D411 BlogGood morning everyone, I'm still here. So are the cats, the house and 75% of my fence. The trees survived and are enjoying the rain, which should go one for a few more hours. The power is out so no webcam (sorry geeks!) The streets are flooded but not bad, I've seen worse in other storms that didn't have a hurricane behind them. Houston has really good drains so once it stops raining, the water will subside in an hour. My worst regret is that no electricity means no coffee. So, I'm going back to bed and hope to wake up in a world that has coffee, I mean, electricity. Still nothing exciting and sensational, other than my computer crashing twice while trying to render the video into Flash. But now I have it working and it looks like the Disability Law Lowdown podcast will go out on time. I hope to have another one for you all this week, depending on how the storm goes. Which is nothing at the moment. We had a little wind, but even that has died down and no rain yet. Going to take a break from working and do something fun for a little while. Will let you know if anything worth writing about happens... Not scary, but it is windy. I've finished editing the video for the next Disability Law Lowdown video podcast. Now I need to go in and add the slides and captions, then I can send it off to the person who does the voice-overs. It's due to go out on Monday, so I'm cutting it close as it is, but with the new job, my Lasik surgery, and now the storm, my whole schedule is a little out of whack. Trying to get stuff done before we lose electricity. They've said that because of the number of people affected, once the power goes out, we could be out for days. Let's hope that doesn't happen. It's now a little overcast, but no wind or rain or anything yet. Doing some laundry in expectation of loss of electricity. Edited some scripts for the Disability Law Lowdown ASL podcast and sent them off to the host. I'm fighting a headache, I think maybe it's the air pressure, so I'm going to lie down for a little bit, then back to editing to see what I can get done tonight. Thanks for all the good wishes and even the messages from those of you who think I'm crazy for not evacuating. I have hooked up and webcam and am displaying it on my Yahoo Messenger account, delizcase. If you use Yahoo Messenger and message me, you should be able to see the image. Would someone who is not already friends with me on Yahoo Messenger please test and see if you can see it? |
